Here is a list of skills that I have thought about, and pulled from a few different sources.
Obviously all of these will need a lot more detail and thought.
I wanted to post these and see what everyone thinks would be the best option for ClassicKBD.

Engineering
Engineers take advantage of their inventiveness to create a variety of helpful items. An engineer can make utterly unique objects.

Enchanting
Enchanters disenchant surplus items - and use the residue to permanently augment equipment of their choosing. With the right incantations and materials, an enchanter can add bonuses to their armor or weapons, making them stronger, faster, or more resilient (among a host of other mystic powers). Canny enchanters sell their unique services to other players, and command prices commensurate with the rarity of the work they produce.

Archaeology
Archaeologists search the world for mysterious remnants. Their digs unearth all manner of artifacts, and a persistent archaeologist will research commonplace historical items alongside rare and powerful relics.

Summoning
Summoning is a skill that focuses on calling pets from the Spirit world by creating and using summoning pouches. Each familiar has a unique ability that requires a Summoning scroll, made from a corresponding pouch, to use. Familiars have a wide variety of uses, from fighting in combat to carrying items to providing invisible boosts to other skills.

Farming
Farming is a skill through which players grow crops/herbs by planting seeds at Farming patches. Different types of seeds can be planted at corresponding types of Farming patches.

Agility
Agility is a skill that allows players to use shortcuts to save time, and access unique areas.

PVP
I wanted to implement something that will drive up our PVP.
This could be a skill that you can only train by killing players.
Pvp needs a lot more discussion.

I've definitely said there should be some sort of reward system for PvP. Like you get something for having 'x' amount of kills, or idk. like a PKer of the week/month ordeal, to has the best K/D ratio or something, idk. Something to make PvP more worth while so more players will participate in PKing. The enchanter skill is interesting too, that'd benefit both PKing and staking. Having items with bonuses other players might not have.

I propose a new skill which I briefly touched upon with Brwn. Gambling!

It could be a genuinely fun, skill that could be trained solo, can be used pvp and can be practiced in special locations through various mini-games.

For e.g.

-Using a similar mini game mechanism to colour matching with the sleeping bag (but against a timer), it could also become a genuinely skillful skill, rather than purely time-intensive, which all the current skills are.

-You could bet on whether your ranged attack on a target will be higher than x or lower than y (using appropriate odds).

-You could bet on how many logs a tree could give you..

-We could have a Gambling/Casino city.

-There could be unique table games that players could buy into with 1m to 10m to 100m+.

Or am I crazy?

As a pretty hardcore gambler, I like where this is headed. I'm not sure how exactly the skill aspect of it would come in, but how cool would it be to have a big ass 'casino' building in a city with various gambling options such as slot machines, blackjack tables, and so on? I'm not sure how difficult it would be to put those types of games in but I imagine at least something like blackjack could be possible. It could also be good for the economy, since casinos do have a house edge it gets a little bit of the excess gold out of the game. I understand how you could say this is pretty much like what we have now in the gambler, but this could be so much fun if done correctly in my opinion.

I do have some more ideas on this topic as far as how the leveling could work and so on if anyone else is actually interested.

cheers for the response, I don't know even if it has to be traditional games like blackjack although that would be cool. There could be slight variants of the same kind of ruled game, but in a RSC settings/style. But how levelling could work is, you would need x level to win y amount, or to be able to wager z amount or to enter a particular tournament. I think it would be great for the economy.

There could also be some new rares, where it could be a very long-winded difficult npc based quest/tournament that has many stages and for which you'd need 150 gambling to enter, where the top prize is a new rare. Does that seem cool?

I agree with Dark, the gambling idea doesn't even make sense to me. Sounds a little stupid forreal, there's already a gambler in game, if you wanna play poker or blackjack than rsc isn't your game haha. And it shouldn't even be a debate, as a server something has to be done to help boost PKing. This is strictly a skilling server. 85% of people are on multiple accounts, and are AFKing and or skilling. And there's no real sustained economy, because everybody skills and makes their own shit for the most part. I play to PK, because I'm not a kid no more and don't have the time to dump hours into skilling or farming. So for me, I don't have much fun. But I'm only ONE player.

PVP based skill: "Hunter" - gaining experience only by PKing players(NOT OF YOUR OWN IP; WE SHOULD PUT A RESTRICTION ON KILLING ONES OWN ACCOUNTS)

archaeology would be a good skill combination with enchanting/engineering. You dig up old secrets, artifacts, machines, etc. and with them you relearn the secret techniques of the past. Kind of like Woodcutting/fletching, Mining/smithing etc. I will always enjoy the skills the most when I am gaining levels while getting materials for a different skill. Never feel like you are wasting time that way. The only thing I wonder, is how the archaeology sites would play out? A certain chance of finding anything digging anywhere, or will archaeology simply get it's own rocks like mining?

I don't really have any inkling of what you would do with enchanting or engineering, aside from maybe buffing equipment that we already own and making portable furnaces/ anvils for easier smelting and smithing or something..

Summoning- Would be kind of cool if done correctly, depending on how the AI act, the system works, and the types of pets able to be summoned. To cut down on coding in new sprites and stuff, would probably be easiest to summon monsters already in the game. And who wouldn't want a big ass KBD as their familiar? haha. Or at level 150 could have 2 familiars. To keep PVP from being 3 second affairs, I feel like you would have to not be able to cast magic with familiars out, or something along those lines. Unless, familiars acted as healers, extra bag space, and buffers. Like if you summon a priest, maybe prayer drains at a slightly slower rate, or with a bear your physical attacks are slightly stronger. King Black Dragon gives you a 15% increase in Defense/ Spell resistance. Imps give you a 15% increase in evasion.. Don't even have to be % increases. They could have solid number increases. Also, instead of leveling up all summons at the same rate. Give players a choice of what summoning line they would like to do, through a quest or something. That way players aren't all the same at maxed levels. A defensive heavy line, an accuracy/evasion heavy line, and a strength heavy line. Balancing will obviously be an issue, but in the end, it could be something that turns PVP into more than just who is the richest, and Auto Casts the fastest wins.

Farming- Farming would be an okay addition just to make gathering herbs easier. I don't really see any other huge benefits, except for making super cakes with recipes that can only be made with farmed produce, etc. For super cakes, I would probably farm.

Agility- Honestly, agility has always been my least favorite skill. You run an obstacle course over and over and over and over and over, not gathering anything useful the entire time, just so that you can go through scattered shortcuts. Now, if these shortcuts were placed somewhere that made skilling more efficient, and or catching people/ escaping easier in wildy, then maybe.. But for the most part, agility is a useless skill.

PVP- I don't see PVP as much of an actual skill. I see it more as a reward line. I will say this though.. You want people to really get into it? Make the rank 150 PVP reward double experience. everyone always complains that this is a skillers only Server. So, the only true way to get skillers to do something, is to give them more exp towards their other skills. Or maybe, Have an event, sort of like KOTH, but for experience. 1 million experience per kill, if someone kills you after 10 kills, they get all 11 million experience. Have a voucher exchange NPC be able to change in experience vouchers for whatever experience packs the player wants.

Once you enter and kill someone you have to stay in a set amount of time, before you are allowed to escape. But after that time you can stay and kill as many as you want, and escape at any time. The first time limit is placed so that you cant just go in and kill someone that has been 20 kills and then leave.  Should also implement some kind of IP tracker to auto disconnect instances of same IP in the ring. IDK what I am even talking about when it comes to IP trackers and Auto DC programs, so don't laugh.

Also, make it so PKers that have no need for experience, can change the vouchers in for gold, equips, etc. TO really get skillers in to this, make one of the prizes (untradeable) Gloves of double skilling. Have one pair for smithing, mining, fishing, cooking, etc.

IDK, i just think that when you have a massive amount of a certain type of player playing, the best way to get them into the things that you enjoy, is to make it benefit the things that they enjoy.

X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X------Now, this won't work for everyone, simply because some people just don't like to PVP. Like... Dun dun dun... ME!! I used to play on sattelite internet, with a ping of close to 1,000 ms. Any love I had of PVP will have to be regained, after that madness. I also don't play FPS games anymore because of it._X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X

In the end, I would say yes to all of these skill additions, with the possible exception of agility.

I feel as the server is getting over the limit with customs. I think a new skill would be great but don't over do it with the customs guys, I will hopefully be back next year. Brion is still a noob. And admin b and brwn are still the best. Thanks.

I can't help but imagine that it is fairly obvious that Farming is the only realistic choice.

I don't have time, today, to trash each option individually but - Most of them are ..misconceptions.. and the rest would make max levels way more OP.  

Farming all day.

If us super-max players who've played for years would stop overloading our noob pkers we'd have lots more people playing.  - It's okay to lose, guys.  Also, you can't give a random tons o' loot 'cuz they now super-maxxed out pking noobs.

Most importantly, however, are players.  Which is whole-heartedly relevant to how much advertising the server owned does.  Nobody is going to do shit based on what the players say - Nobody wants to play a game without the owner saying it's going to be up.

With a PS, it can shut down anytime for anyreason.  People need to think that isn't going to happen.

my opinion would be agility, becouse its originally in the game already but not active. until we get agility we can think about something else?

gambling would be nice to make in trade way, lets say no fighting but u can make bets on money of items in different ways but to win you let computer to decide who.

Lets say trade/ stack your stuff/ wait till other guy stack something and then accept, and the rest could be you choose your symbol like scissors,stone,or paper. if none of these two chosen symbols comes up then computer/client just take your items. In that way we maybe would get rid of some cash in game becouse many of us are really rich and they lost interest to play.

Farming and PVP.


Engineer and Enchant seems pretty complicated and only for main tier chars.

Archaelogoy..nobody wants to be wandering around RSC...Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if we could run. How about that, huh? Give us run!

Summoning...again pretty high-tier skill...not really something I liked in Official RS, not really interested in it here. Especially if it gives combat levels because noobs see a level 210 and they're like this is too custom and the grind has to be insane..Log Out.

Farming, yes. I'm tired of getting 100% of items from totally random and unrelated monsters...you need a working understanding of every monster in the game to play efficiently....like I'm tryna get ess certs from Frost Demons..??

Agility....eh, sure. Give us run, too.

PVP, yes..but just for the player base...pvp is fun, sure guys, but what's really fun is not wandering RSC completely alone or with 5 other players who are nowhere in sight and won't talk.


KBD is pretty custom, almost too custom, really...People wanna play RSC but max out quick and PK... I did atleast. but then it was super grindy and super complex so I just went afk training and then woah I'm maxed out lets frkn playyyy oh nobody on. Hmm...

None I don't like the choices...All the choices are great with proper implementation...but if I didn't like the choices I'd have to suggest something else huh..I would suggest...Hmph, drawing a blank here.

If I pull up like Yo, Travis lets gamble.  Instead of the computer just choosing someone at random I'd be like Yo, Travis...pick a number between 1 and 100..  ::Roll.  Oof, you fool there's a 1 in 100 chance you'd win, obvi I'ma take your money.

It's a decent concept though, especially with the ::Clan system in place...Like who's getting the drop at Bandos and what was it?  We were all fighting it..you got last hit though so you get loot?  How do the other members of the clan know you're not just flat out lying about what drop you got?   We needa be able to see the drops in clans and do ::roll and whoevers closer to the right number gets the drop or something?


Also...Blackmagic i think it was?... You said gambling doesn't make sense...why would you also feel the need to say it's a stupid idea? That's what doesn't make sense means. Stupid means it doesn't make sense, dude. You were stupid, there. Kaviana has some point he's trying to get across, he failed to do so loquaciously and rather than say "I don't understand the point you're trying to make..I don't understand what update you're suggesting." You just starting insulting the guy. Wtf.
